Paris is known for its illustrious fashion history and high-powered haute couture so it’s good to know that, despite such seriousness, some of the city’s designers haven’t lost their sense of fun – including those at Kenzo.
Founded by Kenzo Takada in 1970 as a boutique in which he sold his handmade womenswear, the brand opened its flagship place des Victoires store in 1976 and, by 1983, it had produced its first menswear collection, with childrenswear and homeware following in 1987. Now part of the LVMH group, the brand appointed Carol Lim and Humberto Leon, the founders of the famous Opening Ceremony stores, as creative directors in 2011 and Kenzo’s collections have gone from strength to strength.
The Kalifornia bag is a fun and cheerful antidote to winter’s typically dark accessories. Its furry trim keeps it seasonally appropriate, the clutch style is on trend and, most importantly, it will make you smile every time you look at it.
