The French perfume house Guerlain is among the oldest in the world with an unrivalled reputation for creating beautiful fragrances with longevity. The house was founded in 1828 when Pierre-François Pascal Guerlain, an ambitious and talented young man from the French provinces, set up a small business in Paris.
His son Aimé is credited with breaking the conventions of perfume by creating a new and bolder type of product, with Jicky in 1889. Since then, the closely guarded formulations have been passed through four generations and to date, over 325 fragrances have been produced.
Guerlain is now equally renowned for its skincare range and make-up. It was the first company to create and develop many of today’s favourite beauty items including lipstick, bronzer and face powder.
The prestigious Maison Guerlain on avenue des Champs-Élysées was previously a town house belonging to the Guerlain family. A mix of tradition and modernity, Guerlain’s flagship store is dedicated to perfumes, beauty and well-being. It retains the magic of yesteryear and its three floors are decorated in Guerlain’s elegant gold and blue signature colours.
