The autumn/winter 2017 collections were all about cool and elegant dressing. The sportswear and overtly seductive looks of previous collections were replaced by an altogether more refined and chic sense of dressing. Throughout the New York, London, Milan and Paris fashion weeks, individuality lay at the heart of collections and there was a strong focus on style for all ages. Simone Rocha sent veteran models down the catwalk, among them 73-year-old Benedetta Barzini from Italy, while Dries Van Noten had a line-up of models that crossed the age groups. There was a distinctly feminist feel in all four cities, reflecting the social and political climate. In Paris, Dior created a navy army wearing berets; Balmain made a case for empowering women with a sensual collection inspired by Africa. Take a look at the top trends for autumn/winter 2017 here.
