Célia Lerouge-Bénard: My Riviera

Célia Lerouge-Bénard is the fifth generation of her family to run Molinard. This celebrated perfume maker, founded in 1849 in Grasse, has just re-issued its iconic scent from the 20s, the wonderfully mysterious Habanita. Here the chic Frenchwoman reveals her favourite spots on the Riviera to SHOP magazine’s Paulina Szmydke

Where were you born?
In Grasse, the birthplace of perfume making.

What is the most treasured item in your wardrobe?
A Hermès Kelly bag which belonged to my grandmother.

Do you have a favourite fashion brand?
I’m not usually very keen on watches, but I love my Boucheron one!

Can you recommend any stores?
Mercedeh in Cannes and Monaco for shoes; Espace Harroch in Nice and Mirage in Cannes for clothes.

Where do you take out-of-town friends who are visiting?
The upper town of Cagnes-sur-Mer, which is an authentic medieval village in the heart of the French Riviera.

Where do you like to celebrate?
At Baoli in Cannes or at Buddha-Bar in Monaco.

What’s the best landmark, building or tourist attraction on the Riviera?
Nice is very attractive, especially the old city (Le Vieux Nice) and the castle in the upper town from where you can see the sea and people strolling on the promenades.

Which is the best museum in the area?
Fondation Maeght in Saint-Paul de Vence.

Which person from the Riviera do you most admire?
My father.
