Moomins' birthday dance

News
Ashlee Beard,

This year Finland’s favourite trolls reach retirement age. The Moomins made their debut in 1945 in Finnish author Tove Jansson’s first book, The Moomins and the Great Flood. Since then her much-loved children’s tales have found worldwide fame, appearing in no less than 40 languages. As part of the birthday celebrations, Moominvalley, Tampere Art Museum’s permanent space devoted to Jansson and her characters, has collaborated with professional dance theatre group Tanssiteatteri MD to present Dancing Moominvalley. The performance, based on the book Tales From Moominvalley, brings the loveable characters to life and runs until 31 April 2011.
