Antony Gormley's unique Alpine sculptures

Paulina Szmydke,

Antony Gormley, one of Britain’s most accomplished contemporary sculptors, has set out to embellish the Austrian Alps. You can marvel at Horizon Field, his unique installation of sculptures, while skiing or hiking in the Vorarlberg mountains. Standing tall at 2,039 metres above sea level, these 100 life-size human figures cast in solid iron extend over an area of 150 square kilometres, making it the first mountain art project of its kind. The works, which are presented by Kunsthaus Bregenz, will remain in place until April 2012.
