Paris: still the world’s first tourism destination?


Global Blue hosts merchant event in Paris with strategic consultancy company, Roland Berger.

Global Blue and strategic consultancy Roland Berger today held an event in Paris to discuss a challenging 2016 for tourism in France. Bringing together industry experts at Roland Berger’s Paris offices, the event – Transformation of Tourism in Paris – addressed the future of tourism in the French capital.

The conference was attended by over 100 industry figures from leading retail, hospitality and transport organisations, along with a number of public authority representatives. The audience received a detailed review of the capital’s performance over the last 10 years along with views on the future of Parisian tourism.

Jacques Stern, CEO Global Blue, spoke at the event, which also featured presentations from Roland Berger Partner, Gaelle de la Fosse and Luca Solca, Sector Head of Global Luxury Goods at Exane BNPParibas.

The presentations were followed by an interactive roundtable discussion featuring expert speakers from Paris Aéroports, AccorHotels, Longchamp, Alliance 46.2 and the Région Ile-de-France.

A report for merchants

The event was also an opportunity to launch a joint report from Global Blue and Ronald Berger, examining a number of key trends relating to the tourism industry in Paris. Containing quantitative and qualitative analysis of the Parisian tourism sector, the report provides expert insights from different industries including hospitality, transport, culture and luxury retail. Featured topics include:
