Selfridges: home to the coolest brands in Britain

Apple, Ray-Ban, Rolex and Alexander McQueen – just some of the coolest brands that call London department store Selfridges home

Sally Ashley-Cound,

The CoolBrands list 2013/14 has been announced, and if you’re looking for one place to find some of the coolest fashion, food and technology brands in Britain, then Selfridges is the place. Apple, Rolex, Nike, Ray-Ban, Bang & Olufsen, Chanel, Prada, Adidas, Sony and Alexander McQueen – which together make up 50% of the list’s top 20 – are all available at Selfridges.

Selfridges itself has also made the CoolBrands list – again winning the retail category. It’s not difficult to see why. The store has been reinventing itself ever since it opened in 1909, and is constantly at the forefront of making shopping an exciting and innovative experience. For proof, you only have to look at its recent collaboration with Asia’s biggest fashion conglomerate, IT Group, which has just taken over the Streetwear department with some of Hong Kong’s finest avant-garde urban brands.

Beauty brands Mac, Kérastase and Crème de la Mer also came top in their categories for cosmetics, haircare and skincare respectively, while Alexander Wang, Burberry, Christian Louboutin, Dom Pérignon, Lara Bohinc and Stella McCartney also made the shortlist for CoolBrands 2013/14.
